Hover Blubber Construction Update
Work continues on 'Hover Blubber', an inflatable costume we're constructing for the Fremont Solstice Parade. If all goes well we'll transform the costume into an interactive installation later this year.
We're making Hover Blubber from white nylon and giving it a yellow underbelly which will be hidden until we roll the costume over. Last night we added a chrome and gold Duct Tape pattern to the yellow portion giving it a little extra visual punch. In the coming weeks we'll sew the rest of the structure together and construct some gaskets for our legs and necks. The entire installation will be inflated by tiny battery powered fans, as far as we can tell this will be one of the largest applications of that technology.
